The Children’s Global Media Summit 2017 invites abstracts to be submitted for oral presentation on the role that digital media can play in the lives of a young global audience.
Call for abstracts: 11th July 2017
Abstract submission deadline: 10th August 2017 (midnight BST)
Notification of acceptance of abstract: 4th September 2017
Deadline for accepted authors to register to confirm attendance: 22nd September 2017
The abstract submission process for CGMS 2017 will be through the CGMS 2017 online submission portal. Presenting authors are requested to create an account and submit an abstract for review according to the guidelines set out below. Abstracts must be submitted in English only.
Title of the abstract is limited to 15 words.
Theme must be chosen from the theme list below.
The presenting author must submit the abstract and is required to be the corresponding author for that abstract.
Name, affiliation, and job title of co-author(s) must be included.
There is a maximum of 500 words permitted.
Abstracts already published elsewhere or based on full papers that have already been published will not be considered for inclusion.
Please Note: This will be a blind review process. Please only add the authors names where prompted and not within the abstract entry. Abstracts with names within the main entry will not be reviewed.

Please adhere to the following formatting guidelines when preparing abstracts for submission for CGMS 2017. Abstracts which are not correctly formatted will not be reviewed.
Abstracts must be submitted only in English consisting of four paragraphs with the following headings:
- Audience Take Away
- Summary & Conclusion
Important: Abstracts submitted to the online system can be directly submitted in their final shape or can be saved as drafts for later amendments. The changes in your draft abstract must be performed through the system only and prior to the obligatory deadline – 10th August, 2017.
All accepted abstracts will be published on the website and Summit App. We recommend having your abstract checked for correct spelling, punctuation, grammar and formal structure before submitting.
Please check that references are cited in their text. There is a possibility that references could be deleted during production if they are not cited in text.
The organiser reserves the right to edit abstracts if necessary prior to publication.
Important: The accepted lead author of the research will present his or hers work in front of a large global audience, presentation/public speaking skills are therefore highly important.
The intent of the Summit is to provide high-quality sessions focused on educational content that is free from commercial influence or bias. We request all presenters to co-operate with this by:
- Declaring during the abstract submission process that the abstract is unpublished and original material
- Disclaimer, please note: CGMS 2017 or its Local Organising Committee (LOC) do not take any responsibility for the completeness or correctness of findings or references given by authors in publications and presentations. It is not within the remit of CGMS 2017 to seek clarification or detailed information from authors about data in submitted abstracts. Moreover, it is not within the scope of CGMS 2017 to monitor compliance with any legal obligations, e.g. reporting requirements or regulatory actions.
Notification of Acceptance
Abstracts will be reviewed by an international panel, and authors will be notified of acceptance, or rejection by email on 4th September 2017.
The abstracts will be scored on the following criteria:
- Fits to themes of CGMS 2017
- Global interest
- The title and abstract explains the aim and research problem/question
- It has clear objectives
- The presentation has potential takeaway for our audience
Please kindly note that if an abstract is accepted for presentation, at least one of the authors (presenting author) must register for CGMS 2017. Registration should be done immediately after notification of abstract acceptance, and at least before midnight (GMT) 22nd September. Presenting authors must attend the conference in order to present the abstract on site. Neither being registered nor having the registration fee settled may be the reason for not including your contribution at the Summit.
